4 mentioning ultrawide
  • Works out of the box. Tinkering can improve performance but is not required. Graphics on High preset, 3440x1440 ultrawide.

gpu AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT (radeonsi, gfx1201, ACO, DRM 3.64, 6.19.11-1-cachyos) os CachyOS 2026-05-25
  • If the Proton version works it runs reasonably well. Ultra-widescreen monitors will have some issues.

  • Works great out of the box, even better than Windows w/ FAR mod fix ## Context I have played the Windows version w/ FAR mod in its entirety, and I will replay this game using SteamPlay, so hopefully I can provide good feedback and comparisons over the long run. For this report, I have only played up to the point when 2B first meets 9S in-game which is just right after the 1st boss of the prologue.

## Standard 1080p observations I can get stable 60fps on High Presets with AA turned off. Ambient occlusion setting already has its own AA implementation that conflicts with the dedicated AA setting if turned on. I have not yet tried turning the dedicated AA setting on.

## Ultrawide 1080p observations The one good thing about the Windows version w/ FAR mod and ultrawide fix is how the aspect ratio is maintained for pre-rendered cutscenes (centered with black bars on both sides), but HUD and menus sort of look off/hackish. Using SteamPlay, the game is beautifully rendered in 21:9 out of the box, HUD and menus too, but the downside is that pre-rendered cutscenes get stretched. As for performance, since 21:9 is 30+% more pixels vs 16:9, I can only achieve stable 60fps on my hardware if I also reduce texture filtering from 16x to 8x.

## Other observations Pre-rendered cutscenes run at 30fps, but the playback is way smoother here VS Windows w/ FAR mod.

  • So far works better out of the box VS Windows w/ FAR mod # Context I have played the Windows version (w/ FAR mod) in its entirety, and I am going to replay this game using SteamPlay, so I think I can provide a good comparison in the long run. So far, I have only played up to the part when 2B first meets 9S in-game, just right after the very 1st boss of the prologue.

# Standard 1080p observations When playing on 1920x1080, I get stable 60fps on High Presets with Anti-aliasing turned off. The Ambient Occlusion setting of this game already includes its own AA, and turning the dedicated AA settings on is known to cause issue on Windows. I have not tried turning the AA settings on yet.

# Ultrawide 1080p observations The game is beautifully rendered in 21:9. The environment, HUD, and menus look great, way better VS Windows version even with the ultrawide fix. The only thing superior in the Windows version w/ ultrawide fix will be the pre-rendered cutscenes, since the aspect ratio is maintained (centered with black bars on both sides). Here in SteamPlay, pre-rendered cutscenes get stretched. And because there are at least 30% more pixels to render VS standard 1080p, I can only get stable 60fps on High Presets when I also reduce texture filtering to 8x. If I do not, I get frame dips (lower 50's) when battling on foot.

# Other observations Pre-rendered cutscenes do not stutter with SteamPlay. Yeah, they play at 30fps, and it is noticeable, but they play way smoother VS in Windows w/ FAR mod. Both version's game files are stored in SSD's.
